Where to go in India in June and July?

June first week is foretold the beginning of the monsoon in Kerala and from the coast of Kerala it arrives throughout India. Before entrance of the monsoon, or by first rain mostly part of India suffer intolerably hot. But when the first rain arrives, brings some humidity in climate and people feel relax better. So wherever you go in India in June bearing in mind that the 40 degrees Celsius or even more in mostly part of the country and its parts will be having heavy rain towards the end of June?

India experiences a range of climatic variations across its vast expanse.

Monsoon - July to September when monsoon rains sweep across the country with daily torrential downpours and a high possibility of flooding making travel difficult in all areas except the northwest. Duration of monsoons may vary in different regions by several weeks.

Cool - The months from October to February are some of the best times to visit as the weather is very pleasant with minimal rainfall in most places.

Hot - March to June witnesses temperatures that can soar above average making the hot season unbearable and the hazy, dust-laden air can hamper views. Many people head to "hill stations" which provide a welcome relief from the extreme heat of the lowlands.

Hotel Taj Resorts: Traveler Reviews

Trip advisior review by Wind41- Moscow, Russia -

“Good impression”

4 of 5 starsReviewed June 3, 2012 NEW -  Stayed April 2012, traveled as a couple

people found this review helpful,  Perfect location, only a few hundred meters from the Taj. Nice rooftop pool. And I also have to compliment the breakfast: we had a very early morning train at 6.00 and had to leave the hotel at 5.15. They had packed a rather satisfying amount of good food with us! Made our train trip really a lot nicer. And most importantly: the people at the reception were extremely nice, helpful and professional! But minimal water pressure in the shower. It might have been easier to wash your hair in the sink.

Place Of Interest

Taj Mahal (2 Km): The inimitable poem in white marble is the finest expression of love of an emperor for his queen situated on the banks of the river Yamuna. It was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan for his queen Mumtaz Mahal, in 1632.

Agra Fort (5 Km) : Built by the great Emperor Akbar in 1565 A.D., the fort is a masterpiece of design and construction. Within the fort are a number of exquisite buildings, including the Moti Masjid, Diwane-i-Am, Diwane-i-Khas and Musamman Burj, where the Emperor Shah Jahan died in imprisonment, besides Jahangir's Palace, Khaas Mahal and the Sheesh Mahal.

Itmad-Ud-Daulah's Tomb (22 Km): The tomb was built by Empress Noor Jahan, in memory of her father, Ghias-ud-Din Beg in 1622-25A.D. This ornate tomb is considered a precursor of the Taj Mahal, this small garden tomb reflects the taste and sophistication of the gifted queen. The warm yellow marble is highlighted with white and black marble inlay, and the lacey pierced marble screens and rich, jewel-inlaid mosaics have a delicate, feminine quality that is pure enchantment.

Sikandara(22 Km): The tomb of Akbar, begun by the Emperor himself and completed by his son, Jehangir. This richly decorated structure is a quaint mixture of styles. The emperor began to build his own garden mausoleum during his lifetime, a red sandstone monument in a chahar-bagh or 4 square-formal garden. A magnificent marble-inlaid gateway leads up to the open, airy, four-tiered structure which is topped by a white marble cenotaph and screen on the fifth storey. This was added by Shahjehan who completed the mausoleum after his father's death.

Fatehpur Sikri (42 Km): The founding of Fatehpur Sikri reads like a fairy tale. When all else had failed, Emperor Akbar came here in search of the renowned Sufi mystic, Sheikh Salim Chishti, to ask the blessing of a son. His prayer was heard, and soon a son was born. In honour of the saint, Akbar named the prince Salim and vowed to found a new city. And so Fatehpur Sikri, a magnificent new city rose on the craggy hills 40 Kms from Agra.
Today Fatehpur Sikri is a deserted, phantom city. But the inner citadel is immaculately preserved. Its walls, palaces, baths, royal mint, courts and gardens still stand in splendid homage to great visionary and builder.

Bhartpur Bird Sanctuary(60 Km): Also known as Keoladeo Ghana National Park, India's most renowned waterbird sanctuary lying in the neighbouring state of Rajasthan, is the winter home of the rare Siberian Crane. Approachable from Agra by road, a variety of accommodation is available, within and outside the National Park. (Season - October to February)

Bateshwar(70 Km):A temple town, whose presiding deity is Lord Shiva. A huge cattle fair is organized from mid-October to mid-November. It is also a pilgrimage center for Jains.

Mathura-Vrindavan (70 Km): Mathura, on the banks of the River Yamuna, is celebrated as the birth place of Krishna, and the groves and ghats of nearby Brindaban with its thousands of shrines and temples still echo with stories and songs that recount the exploits of this charming god.

Trip Advisior Review  by
“Just ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2012 NEW
My stay here was just ok the positives were the staff was very helpful n friendly can't fault them at all! Also the food was delicious we ate there all 3 nights we were there. The pool was great very refreshing n nice view of taj from the roof top. The room was nice though a bit dusty which aggravated my asthma a little but still pretty good.
Now the negatives the wifi in the room was shocking even though modem was outside our door the only way we could get it in our rooms was if we put our pc on the floor n still it dropped but they still had a pc downstairs n the wifi was fine in the lobby. There were severals blackouts during our stay which only lasted a few minutes each time but still annoying.
The tv channels would change random ud be in the middle of watching a movie n the channel would disappear then come back up on a different show but u were still on the same channel u had to flick through all the channels to find what u were watching which was very frustrating cuz it happened alot n twice right at an exciting bit of a movie lol
The one day we decided to get up at 4.30am to watch the sunrise at the taj mahal we got back at lunch n wanted a nap which didn't happen cuz they were doing construction work so we watched a movie n we had another blackout so as u can tell some parts of our stay weren't the greatest. But like I said there were some positives n the negatives brought our rating down. Overall it was good n the staff were great.

people found this review helpful. The hotel facilities are very good for the price; rooms pleasantly and stylishly decorated, air conditioning , fridge, tea/coffee making stuff in room.TV,complimentary water and toiletries and hair-dryer and the all important swimming pool! Certainly the best value for a good quality mid-range hotel within easy walking distance of the Taj Mahal.

The Taj view from the rooms is distant and will soon be gone completely due to building work next door.Indeed building work was the biggest downside to this hotel. There was noisy hammering for two consecutive afternoons on the rooftop floor above my third floor room making relaxing by the pool or in the room impossible. On top of that, the new hotel being built immediately next door means the main view is of building works and rubble and of builders openly going to the toilet (sadly not just for a wee...) right outside the hotel bedroom windows...deeply unpleasant! Such a shame as, in other respects,it ticked loads of boxes. Suggest check before booking on the progress of building works.
